It's been almost a month since our project was set up: to make our brand known in the United States through a Kickstarter campaign.
To find out more about the project, everything is explained here in detail: Our big project for 2022
What about a few weeks later?
A DIFFICULT START
In full disclosure, things are not going as well as we imagined. We created fun scenarios where Americans who agree with our zero waste, pro environment, pro bidet values… found our product interesting!
3-4 people understood this:
For others, we need to educate about the bidet!
Lots of “Hell no”, “Eww” and we even had an “April’s fool!”. They probably just don't know what a bidet is yet, so the idea of washable toilet paper certainly doesn't go down “dry”.
Although there are those who like to dry themselves in their bobettes:
HYBRID MODE?
I wondered why people immediately think "poop" and therefore "disgusting" when we mention washable toilet paper, even when people are targeted based on environmental interests (and therefore possibly washing sanitary napkins full of blood or even reusable diapers). Anyway, for people, washable toilet paper = pooping in the washer.
I can understand about guys (who just wipe up poop), but it surprised me that it was the same for girls. Like it's all or nothing? So a hybrid possibility where we use the reusable rollers just for the pees (#1), that didn't seem like something possible.
And yet, there are hybrid cars... and they're super popular!
But now, we will have learned that a hybrid mode for toilet paper (rolls for #1 and paper for #2) doesn't work or in any case, people don't think about that at all. We must therefore at ALL COSTS mention the bidet. But it's still a good thing, because the bidet that fits in the toilet is life!
HOPE FOR CLEAN BUTT EVERYWHERE!
The bidet attachment (models that are installed directly on our existing toilet) are increasingly popular in the United States. We know that the bidet is still something new for many people, but there are still tens of millions of people in the United States who now have clean butts and who are possibly looking for a solution to stop consuming bidets. Toilet paper.
We have also revised our message to be much clearer about our offer which is complementary to the bidet, in order to speak directly to these people:
“You, bidet owner!
Meet your next step: The Boaty Kit.
An eco-friendly way to pat yourself dry
that uses a system that is easy and hygienic.”
We made a video to explain things better: Watch the video in English
We revised our landing page to make it clearer, we shared our eco-friendly bingo which was super popular. It helps!
IN CONCLUSION
It helps, but we still have to redouble our efforts, otherwise our campaign will go to hell. It's really not easy to specifically reach people who have a bidet or who want one!
We have a month left before launch and we need a boost. We're going to put even more money into our ads in the US, we're starting to discover Reddit (ask questions and share our solution), we also want to talk about our “Boaty Kit” in American zero waste groups.
