BIDET MEASURES

BIDET INSTALLATION

The video is currently only available in French, but you’ll still be able to follow the installation steps.

⚠️ Important! To keep the video smooth and easy to follow, the fittings were not fully tightened, and we did not use Teflon tape, which is recommended for a watertight seal.

Make sure to properly tighten the fittings (without over-tightening) and use Teflon tape if needed during your installation.

STEP 1

INSTALLING THE BIDET ATTACHMENT UNDER THE SEAT

MAINTENANCE

Regular Maintenance: Exterior Cleaning

To keep your bidet clean, wipe the exterior with a soft cloth and soapy water or a mild cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive products to protect the materials.

Occasional Maintenance: Deep Cleaning

Cleaning the bidet and toilet:
Removing the bidet for a deep clean is easy. Simply loosen the toilet seat slightly to slide the bidet out while keeping it connected to the water supply. This allows you to clean both the toilet and the bidet without disconnecting the water.

Cleaning the nozzles:
The nozzle heads can be easily removed by twisting them (left for the left nozzle, right for the right one) and pulling them down. Rinse them under running water or soak them in vinegar for 15 to 30 minutes to dissolve any buildup. Once cleaned, reattach the nozzle heads.

For a deeper clean, you can unscrew the entire nozzle block. Be careful not to lose the small rubber seals during removal. Clean the entire block with a mild cleaner or soak it in vinegar before carefully reassembling everything.

Regular Maintenance: Wiping Off Marks

Wipe the bidet sprayer and hose with a soft, damp cloth, especially if you notice fingerprints, water spots, or other marks. This helps maintain a clean and hygienic appearance.

Occasional Maintenance: Cleaning the Nozzle

Over time, limescale or other residues may build up inside the sprayer head. For a deeper clean, disassemble the nozzle if needed and soak it in vinegar to dissolve limescale deposits.

Regular Maintenance: Empty and Let Dry

After each use, rinse, fully empty the bottle, and let it dry. This prevents stagnant water and keeps the bottle clean for future use.

~ • ~

Occasional Maintenance: Deep Cleaning the Bottle

Wash the bottle by hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a brush (if possible). Do NOT put the bottle in the dishwasher or soak it in boiling water, as this may warp the plastic. Dry thoroughly before storing the bidet for its next use.

TROUBLESHOOTING FAQ

Having an issue with your bidet attachment? Here’s how to fix it.

The toilet seat doesn’t sit flat after installing the bidet.

Possible causes:

  • The bidet is misaligned or interfering with the toilet seat.
  • Some toilet seat designs may put pressure on the bidet or prevent the seat from closing properly.

Solutions:
Reposition the bidet: Try adjusting the bidet’s position to see if it can align correctly without interfering with the seat.
Change the toilet seat: If the issue persists and the seat still doesn’t sit properly even after repositioning, consider switching to a more compatible toilet seat.
Use seat bumpers: If the misalignment is minor (less than one inch between the seat and the toilet bowl), you can use seat bumpers to fill the gap and allow the seat to sit correctly. [Buy seat bumpers here.]

The bidet isn’t spraying water when the knob is turned.

Possible causes:

  • The water supply valve is closed, or the water pressure is too low.
  • The temperature knob is fully turned to the hot water side, but the bidet isn’t connected to a hot water source.
  • The bidet is in self-cleaning mode, where water is directed to the nozzles for cleaning, requiring the knob to be turned further to activate rinsing.
  • The control knob is positioned between self-cleaning and rinsing, which is a pause mode where the bidet does not spray.

Solutions:
Check the water supply valve to ensure it’s fully open and the water pressure is adequate.
Make sure the temperature knob isn’t fully turned to the hot water side if the bidet isn’t connected to a hot water source.
Turn the knob further to transition from self-cleaning mode to rinse mode and activate the spray.

The bidet is leaking at the T-adapter or other connections.

Possible causes:

  • The fittings are not tightened enough.
  • Cross-threading (the connection was installed at an angle, causing misalignment).
  • The rubber washer is misaligned or worn out.

Solutions:
Ensure all fittings are properly tightened and apply Teflon tape (included in the box) to the threads before tightening to create a watertight seal and prevent leaks.
Check for cross-threading: If the connection is hard to tighten or doesn’t seem properly aligned, loosen and reinstall it, making sure it is correctly positioned before tightening.
Inspect the rubber washers to ensure they are correctly placed and in good condition. In some cases, they may be too thick or too thin for your connection. Replace if necessary.

What is Teflon tape used for and how to apply it?

1. Ensuring a watertight seal

Teflon tape is primarily used to seal threaded pipe connections. By wrapping the tape around the threads, it fills microscopic gaps, preventing water from leaking through.

2. Preventing leaks

When applied correctly, Teflon tape effectively stops leaks at threaded connections. It’s especially useful for metal-to-metal or plastic-to-metal fittings, where surface irregularities might compromise the seal.

3. Easier disassembly

Teflon tape also prevents thread seizing, making it easier to unscrew connections later for repairs or adjustments.

How to use Teflon tape to prevent leaks:

Application: Wrap 2 to 3 layers of Teflon tape clockwise around the male threads (the part with external threads). Make sure the tape is stretched slightly and applied evenly to avoid any gaps where water could seep through.

Leak prevention: Teflon tape helps seal joints that might otherwise leak due to loose fittings or minor thread damage. It acts as an extra barrier to ensure a tight seal.

The water spray is too weak or inconsistent.

Possible causes:

  • The household water pressure is too low or too high.
  • The temperature knob is turned toward hot water, but the bidet is not connected to a hot water source.
  • Limescale buildup is clogging the nozzle.

Solutions:
Check your home’s water pressure and ensure the water supply valve is fully open.
Adjust the temperature knob: If the bidet is not connected to a hot water source, make sure the temperature knob is not turned toward hot water. Set it to neutral or cold for optimal water flow.
Remove and clean the nozzles: Detach the nozzle heads and soak them in vinegar to dissolve any limescale buildup that may be blocking the water spray.

The nozzle doesn’t extend or retract properly.

Possible causes:

  • Limescale buildup (due to hard water) on the nozzle heads, preventing smooth movement.
  • The nozzles are too close to the toilet bowl, restricting their range of motion.

Solutions:
Remove and clean the nozzle heads: Soak them in vinegar to dissolve any limescale deposits that may be obstructing movement. Regular cleaning helps maintain proper function.
Reposition the bidet: Ensure the bidet is properly aligned with the toilet bowl and that the nozzles have enough space to extend and retract. Adjust the bidet’s position if needed to allow sufficient clearance.

The water spray is off-center, too far forward, or too far back.

Possible causes:

  • The nozzle heads are misaligned or improperly positioned, causing the water to spray in the wrong direction.
  • The bidet is installed too far forward or too far back on the toilet bowl.

Solutions:
Reposition the bidet: Check the bidet’s alignment on the toilet bowl. Adjust its position slightly forward or backward to ensure the water spray reaches the desired area.
Adjust the nozzle heads: Make sure the nozzle heads are properly aligned and directed toward the target area. If needed, adjust the nozzle heads slightly to the left or right to correct the spray angle.
